General Manager Ahmad Syaugi Shahab revealed plans to address potential challenges during the holiday season, locally referred to as Nataru. He highlighted improved traffic flow, noting the addition of eight vehicle entry lanes, doubling the previous capacity, to ease congestion on approach roads. “We’ve coordinated with multiple agencies, including local police, to ensure smooth operations,” he said.

The airport has also revamped its taxi services. A new counter system separates pre-booked passengers from those seeking on-the-spot rides, reducing wait times and confusion. Additional security measures, including police posts at strategic locations, will ensure a safe and efficient experience for travelers.

During the festive season, Bali typically welcomes over one million international tourists and hundreds of thousands of domestic visitors. Shahab advised travelers to allow extra time to reach the airport, even when using the toll road, as congestion often peaks during this period.

Last year, heavy traffic led some passengers to abandon vehicles and run to the terminal to catch their flights. The airport is determined to avoid a repeat of such scenes this year, with enhanced traffic management and security measures in place.

Travelers are reminded to secure comprehensive travel insurance, especially in light of last week’s disruptions caused by Mount Lewotobi’s eruption in the Flores Islands. Such policies should cover natural disasters, medical emergencies, and unexpected delays, ensuring peace of mind during the holiday season on the Island of the Gods.
