It’s not hard to see why Bali earned this title. From luxurious beachfront resorts to enchanting jungle hideaways, Bali offers romantic experiences tailored to every traveler. While honeymooners flock to the island for unforgettable stays, the island’s magic is not limited to couples. Solo travelers also find solace in Bali, using the serene landscapes and spiritual energy to recharge and reconnect with themselves.

Romance takes many forms in Bali. The verdant rice terraces of Ubud and Sidemen create an intimate escape for couples, while the dramatic cliffs and rugged coastlines of Uluwatu provide a breathtaking backdrop for connection and reflection. For those seeking tranquility, the pristine beaches of Amed or the untouched jungles of West Bali National Park offer seclusion and peace. Bali’s unique ability to offer both adventure and serenity ensures it remains an unparalleled destination for romance.

This accolade marks a significant milestone for Bali, as it becomes the first Southeast Asian destination to win the title since the category’s creation in 2007. Previous winners, including the Maldives, Mauritius, and Jamaica, have set a high bar, but Bali’s diverse offerings and cultural richness make it a standout choice.

Bali’s success isn’t limited to the World Travel Awards. In 2024, TripAdvisor also recognized Bali as the number one honeymoon destination globally and the second-best overall destination in the world. Kelingking Beach, with its iconic cliffside views, was named the best beach in Asia and secured a spot among the top 25 beaches in the world.

These achievements have been met with celebration across Indonesia. Wonderful Indonesia, the country’s national tourism board, expressed pride in Bali’s recognition. “These awards truly motivate us to keep sharing Indonesia’s beauty with the world and make Bali and all our destinations shine even brighter,” the board announced.

Adding to the island’s romantic credentials, Bali has been named the second most popular wedding destination globally for 2024, according to Bounce Surveys. Luxury resorts such as the Apurva Kempinski and Karma Kandara offer couples the chance to tie the knot in unforgettable settings, from cliffside chapels overlooking the ocean to lush garden ceremonies surrounded by tropical blooms.
