Badung Police Chief AKBP M. Arif Batubara confirmed increased patrols and spot checks in the Mengwi area, where illegal parking has caused serious traffic issues. Officers have been issuing fines to violators to encourage better compliance.
On May 9, targeted operations in Pererenan and Canggu led to over 130 traffic violations. In Pererenan alone, 80 drivers—21 of them foreigners—were cited for offenses such as not wearing helmets, lacking valid licenses, or using modified exhausts. Two individuals were arrested for drug possession.
In Canggu, 53 more riders were stopped, with 22 foreign nationals among them. Violations included missing helmets, illegal exhausts, and no driving licenses.
Authorities are reminding tourists to ensure they have a valid driver’s license, wear helmets, and verify that rental motorcycles have proper documentation before hitting the road.
