During these visits, the police have been raising awareness about the newly introduced Denpasar City Regulation No. 9 of 2024 concerning the Preservation of Ogoh-ogoh. One of the key provisions of this regulation prohibits the use of sound systems during the Ogoh-ogoh procession, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the authenticity of Bali’s cultural heritage.

The police have also issued a series of safety reminders to the youth groups. One of the key messages is to avoid consuming alcohol during the Pengerupukan event. Excessive drinking has the potential to lead to disturbances and violence, as seen in the tragic incident during Pengerupukan in 2023, when a man was fatally stabbed after a confrontation fueled by alcohol.

The police aim to ensure that the upcoming Nyepi celebrations are peaceful and free from such incidents. To this end, Kompol I Ketut Tomiyasa, the Chief of Denpasar East Police, highlighted the importance of following the regulations to maintain safety and respect during the festive period. "We fully support this tradition, but it is important that it is celebrated safely and according to the rules. We also encourage communities to install CCTV in strategic locations as a preventive measure," he said.

Additionally, the police emphasized that Ogoh-ogoh creation and its related activities should be carried out with discipline and in line with Balinese cultural values, avoiding actions that could damage the tradition, such as drug use or alcohol consumption.

Kompol Tomiyasa also commended the creativity of the youth in designing Ogoh-ogoh, which symbolize both artistic expression and cultural pride. He encouraged them to continue these efforts while ensuring that the traditions are preserved and celebrated in a safe, responsible manner.

As part of the preventive measures, the Denpasar East Police have intensified Blue Light Patrols to maintain order in the city and ensure the community's safety during the lead-up to Nyepi. These patrols are part of efforts to prevent crime, public disturbances, and conflicts that could disrupt the peace and harmony expected during the celebrations.

Through these initiatives, the Denpasar Police hope to ensure that the Nyepi 2025 celebrations are conducted in an orderly and respectful manner, maintaining the spirit of Bali’s cultural traditions while ensuring public safety.
