Two South Korean tourists tragically died during a tandem paragliding flight near Nusa Dua, Bali. According to local authorities, the victims panicked mid-air and failed to release their harnesses properly before entering the water, which led to drowning.
Despite rapid response efforts, emergency teams were unable to save the two individuals. Witnesses described chaotic scenes as operations were underway to reach the water-bound equipment.
The incident has raised serious concerns over safety protocols in Bali’s adventure tourism sector. Although many operators are certified and well-regulated, the rapid growth in low-cost, loosely regulated providers has made safety oversight increasingly challenging.
Authorities have launched an investigation to review whether the operator followed appropriate safety procedures and if equipment maintenance and instructor training met legal standards.
With Bali’s growing appeal as a destination for thrill-seekers, this tragedy serves as a sobering reminder: choosing licensed providers, verifying safety credentials, and avoiding bargain services can make all the difference.
